Don’t dump it, donate it!πŸ—‘οΈ

Leave Liverpool Tidy is a city-wide project, making it easier for you to donate, not dump, your unwanted items throughout the year.

From donations to swap shops and litter picks to support your community, there are lots of ways you can get involved with the project and help leave our city shining.

The Big End of Year Clear OutπŸ“¦

The time has come to start thinking about clearing out your houses/halls/rooms and getting ready for your next step, whether that’s moving down the road or taking the leap to a new adventure. We're here to help make your clear out a little bit easier – and more sustainable!

Working alongside John Moores Students' Union British Heart Foundation and Fareshare, we provide donation points and initiatives for you to transform your trash into someone else's treasure.

Your Guide to Donating

πŸ›οΈ How to Donate:

The way it works is quite simple, if you’re leaving Liverpool, you gather all the stuff that you don't want to move to your new place (such as clothes, kitchen equipment, ,housing decorations or tinned food), and bring them -using a reusable bag- to one of our drop-off points, fixed donation points or leave them out ready for the Leave Liverpool Tidy collection days and we'll do the rest! Please make sure your donations are clean and dry (no mouldy plates or dirty clothes!).

'If you're donating via the collection days please bag your items in a green Leave Liverpool Tidy bag (available from Guild and Halls receptions from the start of May) or clearly label your items as a Leave Liverpool Tidy donation so we don't miss it!'

πŸ’» Can I donate my tech?

  • Desktop PCs
  • Laptops
  • Hard Drives
  • Mobile phones
  • Tablets, printers
  • Audio/visual equipment
  • USBs

If you have any queries about your device and its suitability for collection, please contact: ITDisposalRequest@restore-technology.co.uk

πŸ“… All Year-Round Donations

You can donate your items all year round at the British Heart Foundation banks at Peach Street Car Park, Vine Court, Dover Court and Greenbank Halls.

A fixed donation point is also available in Guild Reception, right at the heart of campus!

You can donate unwanted clothes to the Guild Swap Shop – follow the signs down to the basement or drop them in the green bin at reception. For each item donated you’ll get a token you can use against any other item of clothing in the swap shop.

🏒 Donations from the 9th May: Leave Liverpool Tidy on Tour

You can donate your clothes, accessories, homewares and small electricals to University Halls Reception’s donation points. Each University Hall will also have a separate donation point for tins, jars, dried food and non-perishable food.

The Harold Cohen and Sydney Jones Libraries will also have donation points for books and non-perishable food.

🚯 What about waste:

We do our best to try and accept as many of your unwanted items but if we can’t collect it there are lots of other options for your donations. Please be mindful of your community and dispose of your items sensibly.

You can view the Liverpool Student Homes guide to moving out here for extra tips here.

  • Don’t get caught out: Plan your waste removal before you move out, find out more about how to do that in the council’s Waste Management letter.
  • For information about goods that cannot be donated, visit Liverpool Council website for guidance on what can be disposed of in your local bins.
  • Not all plastics can be recycled easily. Visit Terracycles website to find drop off points for materials that are not recycled by your local recycling company.
  • For bulky items that cannot be donated to British Heart Foundation, visit Liverpool City Council’s website and book a collection.
  • Smithdown Asda car park is host to a range of recycling and donation initiatives. If you live in Smithdown area, this is a great place to drop off unwanted items.
  • Donated items that cannot be taken by BHF such as bedding are donated to local Salvation Army groups
