Hospital Volunteers

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

Volunteers across CCC provide an extra service for patients and visitors & to enhance the quality of hospital users’ experience of CCC and to promote the positive image of the Trust.

You will not undertake roles or activities which are appropriate to employed members of staff and they do not substitute for employed staff. All Volnteers will provide a friendly welcome to patients/visitors/guests and will assist with queries or enquiries.

Tasks include:

  • Welcome and greet patients, visitors and guests on arrival at CCC.
  • Establish their required destination and answer queries as appropriate or locate a staff member to help.
  • Escort patients to appropriate department or waiting area if required.
  • Chat and spend time with patients and, their companions and other visitors to help to overcome their feelings of apprehension or isolation on arrival at CCC.

Specific duties include Wayfinders/ Beverage Bay Assistants and Self Check In Assistants. 

All Volunteers may be asked to give support and guidance to new volunteers

Time Required

We ask volunteers to commit to a weekly session of one morning or afternoon for a minimum of six months.

Volunteer Recruitment and Training

Volunteer recruitment and selection is based on an assessment of an application form, an interview, Corporate Induction, Core Skills Mandatory Training and Safeguarding to comply with Trust policy. 

Volunteer Support

The Volunteer Co-ordinator and the Patient Experience Manager oversee the volunteers and are available for support and are also supported by clinicians.  Volunteers are also supported by department managers.

Expenses will be paid in accordance with the Trust’s Volunteer Policy
