School Representation Leads attend School and Faculty committees, discussing matters relating to students' teaching and learning experience and University policy at a senior level on behalf of students in their School.
Issues discussed in faculty committees over the past few years include the Additional Considerations policy; the Curriculum Project; National Student Survey action plans; and examination procedures.
What is a School Rep?
School Reps are part of the Student Representation Structure, and work with senior University staff to improve the teaching and learning experience for students.
They attend School and Faculty level committees as representatives of their School, maintaining regular contact with Course Reps to understand key issues and themes arising and raise these at School and Faculty Committees.
School Reps provide peer support to course reps within their School and act as a point of contact to escalate feedback within their School.
What to expect from the role
We’ll provide you with training, so you’re fully equipped to attend committee meetings.
You’ll collect feedback from course reps in your school and raise key themes at School and Faculty committees. You will also have the opportunity to provide feedback on changes to university polices that impact students.
As well as training, your Student Voice Coordinator will support you by providing briefings ahead of each committee and supporting you to raise any issues. You can arrange catch ups with the SVC to get further information and support.
You will also provide peer support to Course Reps within your School to help them gather feedback effectively.

As a School Rep, you will build networks with a range of academic and professional services staff, and improve your knowledge of how Universities operate, in relation to student representation structures.
Becoming a School Rep gives you a great opportunity to grow your professional skills such as communication and negotiation, gain experience in discussing topics relevant to the student experience in a strategic setting, reviewing policies and proposals and represent students at a high level.
School Reps may also be eligible for the Liverpool Advantage award.
How do I become a School Rep?
To apply for the position of School Rep Lead, please complete the application form by 9am Wednesday 7th October.
Applications will be shortlisted by a member of the Student Voice Team and a Student Officer, and shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview.
- Interviews for Science and Engineering will be held on Wednesday 14th October.
- Interviews for Health and Life Sciences will be held on Thursday 15th October.
- Interviews for Humanities and Social Sciences will be held on Friday 16th October.
