Now that the dust/confetti/freebie bags have settled post Welcome Week and the semester is in full swing now is the perfect opportunity to find out more about the exciting ways you can take action, grow your skills and use your voice to spark real change on a school, campus or national level; get to know Democracy at the Guild!

As well as being home to your 9am coffee, post lecture pint, your favourite study space or a convenient microwave, as your Students’ Union we are committed to providing opportunities for you to engage, participate and lead in our democratic processes. In this intro we’ll shine a light on the various ways you can get involved; from becoming a NUS Delegate to championing your ideas on our Change It platform and becoming a Student Officer.

  1. Become a NUS Delegate

Ever wanted to represent Liverpool students on a national level? Become a NUS (National Union of Students) delegate. Through this unique opportunity you will represent Liverpool students at National and Liberation conference, raising your voice on the issues that matter most to you, influence national campaigns and government decision and become a student champion on a bigger scale.

2. Course Reps Assemble: Make your LinkedIn shine

Our team of Course Reps are the superheroes of your academic journey equipped with the power to make a real difference to your course and champions for change.

As a Course Rep you get an exclusive backstage pass to the workings of your course, giving direct feedback to academic staff, the chance to shape the curriculum to suit your needs and make sure your cohort are supported.

Being a course rep isn’t all paperwork and meetings but is a great way to build connections, boost your leadership skills and making your LinkedIn stand out!

3. Change It: Your ideas making an impact

Change It is the platform to share your ideas to make positive change to your student experience. Whether it’s improving the Sphinx menu to lobbying for a more inclusive, Change It is where your ideas you can see your vision come to life.

Not had the light bulb moment? Students can still have their say on the ideas using the comment and up/down votes to make your voice heard!

4. Stand to be Student Officer

Level up your student journey and stand to be one of our Student Officers. In a full-time role for a year you will have the opportunity to shape the future of the Guild, become the megaphone for the student voice, grow your skills and be an instrumental part of the change you need to see.

5. VOTE VOTE VOTE

Having your say in our student votes is your secret superpower; they shape our campus, decide your student leaders and make sure your voice is heard loud and clear.

Throughout the year we will ask you to have your say on who leads the Guild as a Student Officer, choose your NUS Delegates and key votes on the topics sweeping our campus; this is your chance to be a champion of change.

We know that not everyone will be a student leader but that doesn’t mean you can’t make a difference and take action to make our campus an even better place to study and live!
