Officer Statement: Message of condolence following earthquake

We want to extend our deepest sympathy and thoughts to everyone affected by the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria.  

In the early hours of 6th February, people in Türkiye and Syria have been met with high magnitude earthquakes and aftershocks, reaching as high as 7.8 on the Richter scale. The effect of this has led to a high number of casualties with even more people missing and many people without shelter or food.  

We understand that many students on our campus may be affected by these events and we want to assure you that there is range of support available.

We know that many students will be looking for ways to support the people of Türkiye and Syria if you can. British Red Cross, Save the Children  and Oxfam have launched emergency earthquake appeals to help people affected by the earthquake and support rescue efforts.  Any donation, no matter how big or small, can make a huge difference.  Click on the links above to find out more.
