Overview
Make your halls more sustainable!

The Guild and Halls team are working in collaboration with SOS-UK to bring you the first Halls recycling audit of the academic year!

Open exclusively to Halls of Residence students, the Recycling Audits give you the opportunity to ensure students are being as sustainable as possible by checking on how well they are using their recycling bins. As well as having the opportunity to make a positive impact on the planet, your community and your halls, this is a paid opportunity of £12.00 / hour!

There are 3 audit slots available:

  • 10am - 1pm - City Halls (Vine, Crown, Tudor, Philharmonic, Dover, Melville)
  • 2pm - 5pm - City Halls (Vine, Crown, Tudor, Philharmonic, Dover, Melville)
  • 2pm - 5pm - Greenbank Halls

You can sign up to both City Halls slots, just not all 3! The audits will involve going into Halls kitchens and checking whether the recycling bins are being used properly (note: you won't have to handle anything in the bins!). Full details will be provided prior to the audits and there will be a training session on 8th November.

The recycling audits form part of our wider Flat Sustainability Champion volunteering opportunity which you can sign up to here. Become a sustainability champion for your flat by encouraging positive behaviours and taking part in quizzes and competitions. The recycling scores go towards working out the most sustainable Halls of Residence and the winners will recieve an end of year prize! And, if you complete 7hrs of activity, it will be noted on your Higher Education Achievement Record.
