Befriending Service Companion

Companionship for those feeling lonely and isolated.

This opportunity would suit anyone who enjoys simply being with people in general, and older people in particular.

Each volunteer would be matched with a person over 50 years of age (known as a client), and would arrange to visit or contact that person on a regular basis, in order to provide companionshp and mental stimulation. This could include very ordinary activities, such as just having a friendly chat about every day things; listening to music; looking at photographs and sharing what is going on in daily life; or going for walks or a trip out for coffee etc. if  both client and volunteer are able.

The role WILL NOT involve any aspects of personal care (e.g. preparing meals; personal assistance in the home; shopping duties etc.
