In February, Liverpool Guild of Students is launching a brand-new swap shop space for students to donate unwanted clothes and accessories and swap them for something else. Instead of just being a one-off event, the swap shop will now be open Tuesday – Thursday, 10am – 3pm; and we need your help to keep it running!
We’re looking for students to help out with the day to day running of the swap shop. Activities will include:
- Supporting students with the swapping process – taking in and sorting donated items. Taking back hangers from swapped items. Giving out and redeeming tokens.
- Counting numbers of items donated and swapped
- Opening and closing the space
- Making sure the space is clean and tidy, and clothes are hung neatly and on the correct size rails
- Monitoring student usage of the swap shop
The swap shop will be located in Activity Space 5 in the Guild of Students building. Shifts will last 3hrs, running from 09.30 – 12.30 and 12.30 – 15.30. We’ll aim to be flexible when allocating shifts, but you’ll need to be free for at least one of those times on a Tues, Weds and / or Thurs. The swap shop will launch w/c 17th February, with a grand opening the following week as part of Sustainability Week.
Any clothing repair / sewing skills would also be greatly appreciated as well as a creative eye and enthusiasm for sustainable fashion. We are always open to ideas on how to make the space as welcoming and inclusive as possible! This is a great opportunity to get some hands-on experience in supporting a sustainable initiative.
