Introduction to LUMOS!

New Year, New Team and Grand New Events. LUMOS welcomes a whole new cohort of members as well as a new committee. LUMOS is starting the year off strong with a plethora of new ideas for events throughout the year.

Hello Everyone - New & Old!

LUMOS welcomes a new year of members as well as a brand new committee. Leading the LUMOS society are our president, Elora Searle, and our Vice President, John Bennett. They will be working closely with Tiannie Jessop, the new Secretary, and Megan O'Rouke, the Treasurer, to deliver amazing events throughout the year. We have many representatives this year, for both Marine Biology and Oceanography. These include Ella Semple, Issy Swan, and Isabella Hammond. Our sustainability team for this year consists of Daisy Race-Banks and Rebekah Moore. Rebekah is also a joint Tank Co-ordinator alongside Nura Alwadi. This means that they look after the thriving ecosystem in the tank located in the Central Teaching Lab.

All the team look forward to connecting with our members and ensuring everyone feels happy, safe, and included. We are planning a wide range of social activities ranging from pub crawls, game nights, meet & greets, and so much more! Throughout the year, these activities will alternate between alcohol-free and mixer events. As a society, we want to be considerate of all identities and welcome everyone with a passion for marine life to join.

Make sure to keep an eye on the Guild Website for updates about events in the future. You can also visit the LUMOS Instragram page at @uol_lumos for information about socials. We strongly encourage feedback on events and would love to know what you would like to see. Please leave any suggestions in the comments or send us an email at lumos@society.liverpoolguild.org.

We can not wait to meet all of you!

Sincerely, the LUMOS Team
