NUS UK Referendum Results are in…

From Monday 23rd – Friday 27th February, we asked students to have their say on whether the Guild should stay or leave NUS UK membership.

We can now reveal the outcome of the NUS UK Referendum. With 1,905 votes in total, we had a turnout of 6% of the student body. The required quoracy of 1,594 votes (5%) was achieved.

The results of the Referendum were as follows:

“The Guild is currently a member of the National Union of Students UK (NUS UK). Do you think the Guild should stay or leave NUS UK membership?”

251 Votes (13.18%) - The Guild should stay in NUS UK

1654 Votes (86.82%) - The Guild should leave NUS UK

With 1654 votes, students have voted that the Guild should leave NUS UK membership.

Thank you to everyone who had their say on this issue and voted in the Referendum.

Liverpool Guild of Students will now give NUS UK notice of the decision to leave membership. This will mean Liverpool Guild of Students stops being a member of NUS UK in December 2026.
