Student Ideas

Got an idea to make University life better?
We could help make it happen.

Change It is a platform that gives each and every student the opportunity to share ideas which will have a positive impact on your time at University.

Tell us what your suggestion is – no matter how big or small – and we will use our democratic processes to support your suggestion every step of the way. Your idea could be the next catalyst for change on our campus!

Submissions Types

There are two kinds of submissions you can make to Change It: Ideas and Petitions.

To find out more, or to submit or vote on a petition, please see the following page.
2

Vote, comment & participate!

Once your idea has been approved, it's over to you to spread the word and get campus voting - and talking about your idea! Once your idea has received 20 'upvotes' – which tells us other students like and support it - we will get to work. Students are also able to down vote an idea, however this doesn't impact if your idea progresses through the process, it just gives students a chance to share both sides of the debate. Students who downvote an idea will be invited to share their thoughts and campaign against the idea.

Submissions stay live and open for votes on our website for 2 weeks once they've been approved, so make sure you get people voting on your idea!

Ideas

Students can submit an idea if they want the Guild to have policy on a particular issue, or campaign or work on a particular matter. Ideas can be about a wide range of things; including the Guild, University and the wider community. This can range from simple, operational ideas to larger scale campaigns. Submitting an idea is also the way to get the matter discussed at Guild Summit.

Stand in Solidarity with the Cuban Student Movement !

The Liverpool Guild of Students stands in unwavering solidarity with the student movement of Cuba, standing shoulder to shoulder with young people organising for dignity, self-determination, and revolutionary social justice. We recognise the Cuban people’s ongoing struggle against the enduring aggression of United States imperialism, and affirm that their resistance is not isolated, but part of a wider global struggle against exploitation, capitalism, and neo-colonial domination. As students, we are committed to internationalism and collective liberation. Student movements have always stood on the frontlines of resistance, and we see the fight in Cuba as inseparable from struggles across the world — from campuses to communities resisting oppression. In standing with Cuban students, we reject the legitimacy of imperialist intervention, oppose the economic blockade and all forms of coercion, and commit ourselves to building militant, international solidarity capable of challenging empire and securing justice for all oppressed peoples. We therefore believe the Guild should release a statement in Solidarity with the Cuban Student Movement expressing it's solidarity and practice student internationalism. Alongside this the Guild should actively support pro-Cuban companies in the Guild and move away from companies complicit in the economic embargo of Cuba such as Bacardi replacing it with more ethical alternatives. The Guild should also work to further educate students on the Cuban struggle and illegal embargo.
