Leave Liverpool Tidy

Don’t dump it, donate it!

The time to leave our Liverpool houses for the summer is around the corner, so the Green Guild has partnered with the British Heart Foundation to Leave Liverpool Tidy. The aim of this project is to reduce the amount of reusable items that go into landfill and redistribute them to those who need them and charities.

The way it works is quite simple, if you’re leaving Liverpool you gather all the stuff that you do not wish to move to your new place (such as clothes, kitchen equipment or housing decorations), and bring them -using a reusable bag- into one of our drop- off points and fixed donation points:

WHAT CAN YOU DONATE?

We accept all items except duvets, pillows, broken and dirty items, knives, hangers, and underwear.

Food items are collected separately at drop-off points in all the Halls listed and in the Guild 'Street'. Unopened dried foods, tins and jars still in date only please for distribution to local food banks.

You can leave bagged items in the following permanent on-site donation bank locations:

  • There are fixed donation banks outside at Vine Court, Dover Court, Greenbank and Peach Street Car Park
  • There are also pop-up drop off points in the following locations within the Reception areas
  • Vine Court
  • Greenbank

Please re-use existing bags.

The British Heart Foundation runs a nationwide campaign with 130 institutions in which communities work together to redistribute items to those in need. In 2018, the Guild collected 66 bags which helped the British Heart Foundation for good campaign. This campaign focuses on providing much needed stock for their network of over 685 shops, as well as providing a free collection service to Universities, Local Authorities and landlords. The BHF campaign aims to reduce complexity whilst actively contributing to University waste diversion, carbon reduction targets and CSR targets including charitable giving within your communities.
