If you want to develop your advocacy and legal skills, enhance employability, or just come along for the socials, then the Advocacy Society is perfect for you!

Our Society will help you expand your public speaking and advocacy skills – things which are quintessential features of a brilliant lawyer. Please don’t be put off by the term ‘advocacy’, though, as we cover an array of bases in the legal sphere and do not pigeon-hole our events. We will throw workshops, panels, and events alike, that will help you develop your communication skills and increase your confidence first and foremost, so you can thrive in whatever career you pursue, legal or not!

Join us as we progress into (hopefully) our best and most innovative year yet! Following on from the brilliant progress last academic year, we hope to continue our court trips (where you will see advocacy in action), networking events AND – of course – our speed mooting competition, where you will put your advocacy skills to the test! Our plans are underway for new future events, including guidance workshops on the routes to becoming a solicitor or barrister, public speaking workshops and more! At the core of our society is collaboration and inclusivity so we are devoted to ensuring our events are diverse and successful, as well as catered panels shedding light on minority communities in the profession. After a great sponsorship contract with BPP last year, we hope to put on even more events in collaboration with the Law School, designed to help you develop your confidence, independence and purpose.

We understand the added pressures this year, but we are trying our hardest to continue our social momentum! We may not be able throw iconic cocktail nights, Santa bar crawls or pub quizzes like last year, but we will make sure you will have fun and meet new people with us!

Everyone at the Ad Soc family truly hopes you’ll join us this year!
