Overview
Join us for the third Big Spend It meeting of the year!

Spend It is the Guild’s way of distributing grant funding to registered societies. Alongside principles and values of participatory budgeting, the Guild wants to ensure societies have access to funding to support them in their organisation of events/activities or to buy items for their society, decided by students, for students!

There are four rounds of Big Spend It per year. All society committees are invited to submit bids and attend meetings and it is a requirement of the Liverpool Advantage Award for Treasurers to attend at least on Big Spend It meeting during their term.

We invite bids that are for:

  • More than £350, up to £4,000
  • Large items/events/activities
  • Projects that include collaboration between societies
  • Projects that are likely to have a longer lead-in time
  • Projects that have a benefit to the wider society/student community

What happens at a Big Spend It Meeting?

You will hear presentations from Guild staff about the Big Spend It project, including funding criteria and guidance on how to participate in the meeting. You will then hear short bid presentations from each society, with a chance to ask questions afterwards. Guild staff facilitators will support you to discuss the bids and make amendments by consensus. You then have the chance to vote for which bids you'd like to fund. The bids with the most votes will be funded up to £4,000 in total.

More details on what to expect from a Big Spend It meeting can be found in the briefing document, available on the Society Funding page of the Society Handbook.

Big Spend It Round 1 will take place on Saturday 20th February, 10am-1pm, in the Elizabeth Gidney 1 room, here at the Guild.

Only one representative per society should attend to take part in the voting of the meeting.

When is the deadline to get my society’s bid in?

The deadline for Round 3Submissions is Monday 1st February. You can find more information about the Big Spend It on the Society Funding page of the Society Handbook, including criteria for bids and the bid form to submit an application. We will be in touch with you all following the bid submission deadline with any further questions on your bid or next steps.
