Join LivPsych’s Psychiatry Student Conference 2026 for an engaging and insightful day exploring the breadth of psychiatric practice.

This conference brings together expert clinicians across multiple subspecialties, offering valuable perspectives on both clinical practice and career pathways in psychiatry.

Confirmed speakers include:


Dr Barnes, Consultant Psychiatrist and Lead in Neuromodulation, delivering “Psychiatry is a Load of Bo***cks”

Dr Watson, Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, delivering a specialist CAMHS talk on eating disorders

Dr Hyland, Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry, leading a workshop on Mental State Examination (MSE) and Risk Assessment for OSCEs and clinical practice

Dr Barsoum, Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist, presenting on Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), a specialist clinic he runs 

Dr McCabe, Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist, discussing dementia and sport, with a special interest in sport and exercise psychiatry

Dr Naylor, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, delivering “Forensic Psychiatry – Neither Cracker nor Silent Witness”

 

Workshops include:

  • Mental State Examination (MSE) & Risk Assessment
    Led by Dr Hyland, this practical session will focus on core skills for OSCEs and clinical practice.
  • The Doctor–Patient Relationship
    Exploring communication, psychotherapy principles, and reflective practice through guided discussion.

Abstract Submission & Prizes:

  • Submit an abstract by April 20th for a chance to deliver an oral presentation
  • Abstracts not selected for oral presentation will be invited to present a poster
  • Prizes will be awarded for top presentations / posters 

This is an excellent opportunity to build your portfolio and gain presentation experience !
