Revitalise is a national charity that has been providing respite holidays for disabled people and carers for over 50 years. We have three Revitalise centres; in Chigwell in Essex, Southampton and Southport, each providing a wide range of accessible activities, excursions and entertainment.
We are very lucky to have dedicated volunteers, who provide companionship and support to our guests, ensuring they have a truly unforgettable holiday and we would love you to join them. Our volunteers form a crucial part of the Revitalise team and our guests always tell us that a big part of what makes their holiday so special are the volunteers.
We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds from the age of 16 and our roles provide a valuable opportunity for young adults to learn important social skills, build confidence and make a positive impact. No experience is necessary so our varying levels of training mean our roles are suitable for students of any degree background; for students undertaking studies in areas of care or nursing and want to gain specific experience or those who simply want to try something new. We also provide assessments for students and references on request.
To have fun, make friends, boost your confidence and gain skills to support future career prospects please join our army of volunteers and help our guests have a truly revitalising break! http://revitalise.org.uk/volunteer/
We have opportunities to volunteer on a residential basis (for 1 week or longer) and also to support on a daily basis whenever suits you and your schedule. There are endless possibilities of how you can get involved and we know we can find a role that suits you. Join us and help make our guests’ holidays truly revitalising.
We have three holiday centres- in Chigwell, Southampton and Southport and you are welcome to volunteer at any of our centres. For residential volunteering; placements run from Sunday to Sunday throughout the year.
What does providing social support mean? This means activities like chatting with guests at meal times, making teas or coffees, enjoying the evening entertainment with guests and accompanying them on daily excursions to local sites alongside our staff. It also involves providing some personal support such as assisting with mobility and eating and drinking but you won’t be asked to do anything you aren’t comfortable with. Our volunteers also support in the dining room with serving breakfast, washing up after dinner and laying the tables for the next day, but done as part of a team this doesn’t take long!
Do I need to have previous experience? No experience is necessary and you will receive a thorough induction and training on your arrival. The only things we ask for are for our volunteers to be friendly, so they can provide a warm and memorable holiday for our guests and to have a competent level of English to be able to support our guests and follow safety procedures.
This role will suit you if you are friendly, enjoy meeting new people and have a passion for our cause.
This role is ideal if you are looking to gain experience in healthcare, hospitality, or simply want to try a new experience.
By volunteering with us you can have fun and make friends, boost your confidence, gain relevant and transferrable skills to help your studies or future career prospects and make a difference by helping our guests have a truly revitalising break.
Anything else? We don’t want cost to be a barrier for you so volunteering with us is free! We provide free food and accommodation for the duration of your stay and will cover travel expenses to a limit of £60 within mainland Britain.
