Here is your Step to Step Guide to becoming a Student Volunteer
Register yourself on the Volunteering Liverpool portal and you will then be able to browse hundreds of volunteering opportunities across Merseyside. You will also receive our Volunteering newsletter every two weeks with updates on new opportunities
Browse the A-Z of opportunities to find the your perfect volunteering opportunity.
Once you’ve registered your interest, the charity will contact you with more details (such as the application process and information on training). If you do not hear back within 5 working days please contact the Guild’s Volunteering team at email@example.com

Once you have all of the details, it’s time to volunteer!
You can log your hours to work towards Volunteering Awards. You should only log hours spent volunteering in the community with organisations listed on our website. The organisation will receive a notification asking them to verify the hours you spent volunteering with them.
Logging your hours will earn you volunteering awards! Your awards and volunteering transcript can be found on your account / profile and can be shared on your LinkedIn, used to enhance your CV and will celebrate all of the great work you’ve done in the community.
7 Hours – earns you a University of Liverpool recognised HEAR award.
25 Hours – earns you a Bronze Volunteering Award.
50 Hours – earns you a Silver Volunteering Award.
100 Hours – earns you a Gold Volunteering Award.
A special Volunteer of the Year award will go to the person who has logged the most hours for the voluntary work they did in that academic year.
Hours logged will count between the 1st of August to the 31st of July and will not roll over for the following year.
We reimburse reasonable travel expenses to and from your volunteering placement. You need to complete a PV and return it to Liverpool Guild of Students along with all original receipts. Find out more by reading our Expenses Policy.
The organisation you volunteer with may have an Expenses policy of their own, please check this in your training, but be sure not to claim your expenses back from both the guild and the partner organisation
