Educate local primary and secondary school children about your society's activity and inspire the next generation of University students!
The Guild Schools volunteering opportunity gives University of Liverpool Students the chance to deliver workshops on various topics in Primary or Secondary schools across Merseyside. The project has 3 strands: Science in Schools, Sustainability in Schools and Societies in Schools.
The Science and Sustainability strand allows students to deliver pre-determined one hour sessions to pupils as chosen by the school. For more information, see here.
The Societies in Schools strand is for societies to design and deliver one-hour workshops or sessions with support from the Guild Schools team. Your session could be an introduction to the activity your society does; an insight into academic life at university; or a workshop with an academic focus to support student’s learning; we're always open and excited to hear your ideas!
Societies will need to complete a session plan outlining their intended activity which will be reviewed by the Guild Schools team who will either approve or give feedback on the session. Once the session is approved by the Guild it will be advertised to local schools across Merseyside and we will coordinate the organisation of your session(s) in schools.
We will hold online and in person training sessions to support you in the preparation of your session(s) and to give more information on the process on the following dates:
Guild Schools is a great opportunity for students and pupils to develop their skills and experience something new, plus it’s completely free for both the student volunteers and the schools themselves. All training, session materials and transport will be provided by the Guild.
