We are Liverpool Debating Union, the official debating club for all of the universities in Liverpool. Everyone is welcome in our debating union, no matter what your age or experience level - we promise that there's a friendly, inclusive atmosphere!
We hold training sessions each week, as well as a frequent public debates, close-knit socials and weekly opportunities to attend competitions throughout the country/world.
You’d better get ready for the competitions, socials and guest speakers we’ve got lined up for next year!
There are also a number of projects we are considering doing with schools, the community, the university or the environment.
Beginners' Training - Tuesdays 6pm, Liverpool Guild of Students
This is geared towards total beginners, with the focus being on getting you comfortable public speaking and debate. Training sessions will normally start with a debating games or presentations by members, to improve your confidence and knowledge. This will usually be followed by a short debate with feedback on how to improve.
Advanced Training - Thursdays, 6pm, Liverpool Guild of Students
This session is aimed at teaching those who wish to speak or judge at competitions against other universities, and practicing British Parliamentary (Worlds' Style) debate format. This will become more advanced than Tuesday's training, but all are still welcome.

Feel free to attend both sessions, or whichever session is more convenient for you. We recommend that total beginners come to Tuesday training first to get a feel for public speaking and the society as a whole.
