Salsa got its name after the sauce because the dance consists of different rhythms, movements and styles from different cultures, with different flavours and spices. It's a lively dance, well-known internationally and can be done anywhere - you can't go wrong!

On Wednesday the 6th of May we will be hosting an outdoor Wellbeing event at Nanny Sharons Alpaca Farm on the Wirral. We have been generously awarded money towards this event by the Kieran Brinn Fund. The fund was established in memory of Kieran, who was a former student at the School of Medicine.

The event will involve an Alpaca and Goat Walking experience. Come along to spend some time socialising with friends. This will be a ticketed event and participants should be comfortable around Alpacas and Goats.

We look forward to seeing everyone at this event.

This class welcomes anyone with pre-existing pole experience and those who want to develop their technique!

📍Where are classes located?

Classes are located in the Dance Studio, on the second floor of The Liverpool Guild of Students. See our socials for directions to the Studio. Please arrive 5 minutes before classes start and note that arriving late to class and missing the warm up will result in you not being able to take part!

👗 What to wear?

For pole, we recommend wearing shorts and a t-shirt or sports bra. The more skin contact with the pole, the better grip you will have! We also ask you come free of moisturisers and fake tan and remove all jewlery to avoid damage to the poles!

Coming in on the 1^st May the Renters Rights Bill will affect how you rent private student accommodation. It’s important to get to know how these changes could impact your living and financial situation and understand any action you need to take.

What is No Mow May?

No Mow May is an annual campaign urging everyone to pack away the lawnmower, let wildflowers grow freely and help nature from your doorstep.

From May onwards, simply stop mowing your lawn (or even just a small part of it) and do more by doing less.

What do I need to bring?

Just bring your creativity! Supplies will be provided, and you are welcome to paint, draw, or use digital media to create signs celebrating this pro-biodiversity campaign. You are also welcome to bring your own art supplies for physical artwork or your own device to make digital artwork.

Spend It is the Guild’s way of distributing its grant funding to its societies. Alongside principles and values of participatory budgeting, the Guild wants to ensure societies have access to funding to support them in their organisation of events/activities or to buy items for their society, decided by students, for students!

All society committee members are invited to four meetings per year, where bids will be presented to them by other society committee members. Attendees can make amendments to the bids by consensus, and all attendees can then vote on the bids. The bids with the most votes, will be funded up to £4,000 in total.

We invite bids that are for:

More than £350, up to £4,000
Large items/events/activities
Projects that include collaboration between societies
Projects that are likely to have a longer lead-in time
Projects that have a benefit to the wider society/student community

When is the deadline to get my society’s bid in?

The deadline for Round 4 Submissions is Monday 20th April. You can find more information about the criteria for bids on the bid form, but if you have any questions about this, please let us know at saadmin@liverpool.ac.uk

When is the meeting taking place?

Big Spend It Round 4 will take place on Wednesday 13th May, 3pm-5pm, in the McAusland Room, here at the Guild.

Only one representative per society should attend to take part in the voting of the meeting.

NUOC Northwest is an inter-university collaboration between the student oncology societies of The University of Manchester (Preston), The University of Leeds, University of Central Lancashire, University of Liverpool and Lancaster University - led by medical students, for students. We are exploring often overlooked areas of cancer care from early life to end of life. With added emphasis on paediatric and palliative perspectives, the conference brings together student societies across specialties allied with oncology including surgery, radiology, and pathology fostering collaboration and dialogue across the multidisciplinary team.

Admission prices of £6 will be available to purchase!

We're excited to announce the Wilderness Medicine Advanced Weekend 2026!

This is our second weekend of the year and is for Years 3,4 and 5 Medics or other senior Healthcare Students. This weekend will involve a simulation weekend with oppertunities to assess and treat patients in a simulated and safe manner. We will have assessors to provide feedback for cases through the weekend.

Tickets will be released 26th of March and usually sell out quickly, so don't miss out! The weekend will cost £11.25 which includes accommodation, teaching,use of the facilities on site and snacks and warm drinks. Meals are not included. More details will be revealed nearer to the date, and a full kit list will be sent to all participants prior to the weekend 🏕

The Around the World Ball is your chance to end the academic year with a night that brings campus cultures together in one place.

This university end-of-year ball is hosted by 10 celebration-of-cultures societies: French, Italian, East Meets West, Irish, Turkish, Balkan, Latin American, German, Polish and Spanish. Taking place at Revolution Liverpool - Albert Dock, the venue offers a lively atmosphere in a prime waterfront location.

Your ticket includes entry to the venue, a buffet menu, and student drink deals available throughout the night. A DJ will be providing entertainment, with a mix of international tracks and party favourites to keep the night moving.

The dress code is formal with a cultural twist. Whether that means wearing your country’s colours, a flag pin or badge, or going all out with a traditional outfit.

Whether you’re coming with your society or just looking for a standout end-of-year event, the Around the World Ball is a night to celebrate culture, community, and the end of the academic year!

Join us for a night of celebration to mark the end of the academic year in style! The Radiography Summer Ball will be held on 30th May at The Clubhouse, Ropewalks Hotel – the perfect chance to dress up, let your hair down, and celebrate with friends and lecturers across all years.

Sustainable Halls: Visit Burton Mere Nature Reserve (24/04/2026, 11:00)

Burton Mere Wetlands is a pocket of unspoiled wilderness in the Dee Estuary, a nature reserve in Wales just south of Liverpool. This is an excellent getaway to relax, do some birdwatching, and explore the trails. The trails can be muddy so bring a coat and a pair of shoes you don’t mind getting dirty! We recommend bringing a pair of binoculars if you have them; but we have some which you can borrow too.

Your ticket cost includes a coach ride to the sanctuary from campus and back, as well as entry to the sanctuary.

Hey baker,

Join us for a delicious baking session where we’ll be making Brazilian milk cake, a soft and indulgent dessert soaked in sweet milk. This session is perfect for anyone wanting to explore Latin American flavours.

This event is run in collaboration with the Latin American Society, the Brazilian Society, and the Open Door Charity, with profits going towards charity.

You will need a ticket in order to attend! (tickets are limited). They are £6, this includes the cost of ingredients and any profits will go towards charity. You will need a free membership with our society in order to buy them. Tickets go on sale every Monday before the session at 17:30pm. We will be providing all the equipment and ingredients for this session. We hope to see you there!

If you buy this ticket online via the Guild website, you will be charged a transaction fee of 1.5% per ticket, plus a 30p surcharge. Tickets are also avaialble via Guild Reception between 9am-4:45pm, Monday to Friday. At reception, you will not be charged a transaction fee, but please note that this method is cash only and we would ask that you please bring the correct tender, where possible.

Liverpool Guild of Students has partnered with our good friends Peloton to provide a fleet of bikes for students to rent to help you get around our campus and the city sustainably!

Bikes can be hired for either 1 semester or 1 year (latest return date 26th June 2026) and you can renew your hire for either a semester or a year; please select the appropriate ticket when purchasing. A D-lock is also included within the bike hire.

1 semester bike hire: £40 + £50 deposit
1 year bike hire: £60 + £50 deposit
1 semester bike hire RENEWAL: £40
1 year bike hire RENEWAL: £60

Initial bike hire includes a £50 refundable deposit. The deposit will be refunded upon return of your bike on time and in good condition. If any major repairs need to be made money to cover them will be taken from the deposit. If you are renewing your bike hire, the deposit will be carried over from the previous hire. If you have previously hired a bike with us and wish to renew your hire, please purchase either of the "RENEWAL" options.

Before purchasing your hire, please read the hire terms and conditions. By purchasing LivCycle bike hire, you are agreeing to abide by these terms and conditions.

To collect, return, or swap your bike, please book an appointment here. We can also offer assistance in purchasing the correct type of hire during this appointment. Please do not turn up without an appointment, as we may not be able to help you.

If you buy this ticket online via the Guild website, you will be charged a non-refundable booking fee of 1.5% per ticket, plus a 30p surcharge. If you buy this ticket in cash via Guild Reception Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, you will not be charged a booking fee or a surcharge.
