In between campaigning, meetings and representing students, your Student Officers do their bit to make quick changes happen for your benefit. Click on their latest wins below.


Societies and their great activity is an integral part of the Guild, Sean has successfully used our digital screen to promote society events and achievements.

Thanks to RAG and Sean you can have a drink in the Sphinx and be giving back at the same time! 50p from each of the ‘Bakewell’ cocktail will be donated to RAG and has so far raised over £400

Students took to Change It to lobby for lockers in the Guild and Sean answered! 30 new lockers have been installed on the lower ground floor to take the weight of your books!

Following plans to up Business rates, which would have a direct effect on landlords of student properties and raise rent prices, Sean successfully lobbied for this scheme to be overthrown. Subsequently Sean has been involved in setting up a Student Advisory Group within the local council to ensure student input is considered when making future decisions.


Celebrating the success of our sports team has been a main part of Oba’s agenda and using our digital screens to share Sports results has been a great way to keep up to date with their ongoing achievements.

Oba has successfully campaigned to create a cultivation area on Peach Street, an area of land now being used to grow produce and support our sustainability projects.


Knowing the importance of keeping an eye on and discussing our sexual health, Yasmin teamed up with Brook to set up sexual health screenings and advice sessions every month.

The Guild is committed to improving awareness and support of mental health issues. After a student asked for a session specifically for supporting friends and family suffering with mental health issues, Yasmin added a specific counselling workshop into the itinerary for University Mental Health Day in March.

Following a submission on Change It, Yasmin has been committed to lobbying the university against their investment in BDS companies. From this the University has agreed to review the ethics of their investments as part of their values and ethics review.


Always wanting students to get active, Ananda heard your cries for a table tennis table in the Guild and this is now available in the courtyard.

Following complaints about the poor condition of the library toilets on Change It, Ananda has worked with the library to ensure there is an improvement in their upkeep, ensuring your toilet breaks are more enjoyable!

Following the issues being raised on Change It Ananda has overseen the installation of three new water fountains in the Guild building. They are located on the Internal Street, Ground Floor Link and outside the Elizabeth Gidney Room.

Being part of a Blood Donor register can ensure you play a part in saving a life; students have raised the importance of this on ‘Change It’ and following this Ananda has overseen two successful blood drives at the Guild.
